Jesus Longboard Classic 2014   Get yourself down to Polzeath this weekend for the eighth annual Jesus Longboard Classic. This yearly competition sees some of the UK's best longboarders pitted against each other. As well as a few with perhaps a bit more faith than talent. In partnership with the Tubestation Polzeath, Nineplus, Riz Boardshorts, 360 Photography and Finisterre, this comp has become a really popular event. It's now known for being tonnes of fun and a great way to round off the longboard contest season. What's that? You're an awesome longboarder and you just need a way to show it...

Fiji Bula! And welcome to Fiji, one of the most exciting stops on tour. The past couple of days have produced some big surf, and the forecast looks promising for a good contestable size during the running window. The venue: Cloudbreak is a crazy wave. Breaking a couple kilometres off the coast of Tavarua, it’s exposed to massive swells and can break up to 30ft+. Predominantly a barrel-riding contest, Cloudbreak tests the competitors in not only their skills, but the size of their cojones. If Cloudbreak gets too sketchy the contest can be moved to Restaurants.  Restaurants is more sheltered from the...

So the Quick Pro was won by the young Gabriel Medina. I don’t think anyone really expected it, and what was really interesting was that he won with just strong backhand rail surfing, no aerial trickeries. On the way to his win, he beat Taj, Mick, and Parko, who let’s be honest, were all favourites. http://www.aspworldtour.com/events/mct/649/drug-aware-margaret-river-pro I think it’s tough to predict who’s going to win at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro (The next CT stop), but I’m sure the Aussie’s and Hawaiians will dominate if it’s classic big and mean main break. If it’s smaller than it could turn...

So the weekend of the 11th of jan 2014 was a big one for the surfer girls of Mexico. Why, you ask? Because it was the Damas Primero, the first all-girls surfing event the country has ever seen, and boy was it a goodie. Held at Pascuales, a thriving little Mexican beach town which, in the summer, is home to 20ft sandy bottomed barrels, and in the winter holds head high quick tubes. Around 30 girls of all ages committed for the event, and about twice as many guys came to oggle. I unfortunately have a seperated rib so have been...

How it works I’m assuming you’ve probably heard of fantasy football or something similar? Well this is fantasy surfer. You get to pick and manage a team for each event on the ASP world tour, and you’ll be rewarded for how well each member of your team does in competition. You start with a budget of $50,000,000 and each surfer’s price is based on their results and tour ranking. At the start of the season, it’s based on last year’s final standings, so time to make decisions about whether to blow all your money on the big names, or whether to...

So the massive great trophy that represents the Moche Ripcurl Pro at Supertubos, Portugal, was deservedly handed over to Kai Otton, the 33 year old Aussie who seems like the nicest, humblest guy on tour.    The Portugese stop is the 9th on the tour, preceding Hawaii Pipeline for the final. Usually you can expect to see glassy barrelling and pretty super tubes from the chosen spot Supertubos. However for the 2013 contest expectations were not met, and to put it mildly, dreams shattered. However the disappointing surf (which actually righted itself for the later heats) didn't stop all the guys...

Ahhh bonjour mi petit saucissons! I don't know about you but I thought the Quicksilver Pro, held in Francais, put on a ruddy good show for 2013! Much like the weather, the waves were pretty hot and cold (numerous laydays were called due to lack of swell). That sure didn't stop the talented guys on tour, though, especially that of Mick Fanning, The 32 year old Aussie powerhouse who, after a non-stop final with Gabriel Medina, took the title!    The final was held at La Penon in Seignosse, the back-up spot, and it saw the two lads battling it out...
