Heat by heat write up of the European Surfing Championships 2015

Day 4 - 16th September

Ain Daab Casablanca

Repercharge 2 – Women’s Open

Flora's first repo round went fantastically. She was lined up against low scorers and was clear winner. Snaps and a re-entry and a higher scoring backhand again.

Repercharge 2 – Men’s Bodyboard

Dave Renaud has a tough day ahead fighting to keep a place in both Bodyboard and Men’s open. Bodyboard not being Dave’s specialist sport he came joint 3rd with the Welsh, both scoring exactly the same two waves at 1.13 each.

Repercharge 2 – Men’s Open

Sam Harwood paddled out into what looked like favourable conditions. His heat was hit by the pushing tide, washing out the lineup. Sam took off on big soft waves and read them well, finding any opportunity to make small turns, big snaps and push off the lip nearer the end. Only two scoring waves but that was all he needed to earn second and progress.

Repercharge 2 – Men’s Open

The bigger swell had started to pulse in and Seb Smart loves it big. What can I say, this boy has style, weaving through rollers with a cruisy style and tapping the top effortlessly. His opponents returned with good effort but not enough to keep Smart out of the next round.

Repercharge 2 – Men’s Open

Dave Renaud in his second category of the day. Dave waited patiently for his first wave. He carved his way right to the inside on the first, putting him in second. Then he did the same on two others, keeping distance between him and 3rd.

Coach, bodyboarder and progressing through the Men’s open. We salute you Dave.

Repercharge 2 – Men’s Open

Sambo Rambo, Mr Smart up next. Sam had a tough time in his heat. The paddle out was immense so he waited it out to be picky and make sure his waves counted. He held onto priority and picked out a good one. He couldn’t find anything staying open to follow it up, unfortunately ending his run here.

Repercharge 2 – Women’s Open

Flo gave it her goods in this heat. Because of how difficult the surf was, basically a whitewater rip fest, none of the girls were able to fully display their ability. But Flora was leading throughout the entire heat then dropped to second with a few minutes remaining. One of the other competitors found a wave in the last seconds that allowed a few turns, clinching the win and giving flora no time to return.
