Heat by heat write up of the European Surfing Championships 2015

Day 3 - 15th September

Ain Daab Casablanca

Repercharge 1 - Men's Open

Sam Harwood was again our earliest competitor off the mark, and boy did he do well. Newquay boy Sam scored highly for the heat with a 5.33 after finding a bowly wave and tore it up. The competition is high at this event so scores are at world class level. He built on this finding back up scores to keep him in the lead. Winner of the heat and next round for Sam is repercharge 2.

Repercharge 1 - Men's Open

Mr Smart did us proud once again progressing through his heat in style. Enough to get through, he had a low wave count due to poor waves and rips running through breaking them up. However, he had a strong left hacking it up and finishing off with a big re-entry.

Progressive 2 – Women’s Open

All the practise in France has done Georgie well. She was up against Alize Arnaud who shredded her way through the heat in style. Alize’s high scoring wave was a bomb and on her backhand she threw buckets. Georgie's focus was on wave by wave battling for second place and she came through, showing the French woman that England are serious competition. Georgie can now focus on getting ready for P3, which will surely be Europe's toughest female competition.

Progressive 2 – Women’s Open

Flora was up against Lucia Martino from Spain in this heat who is one of Spain’s best female competitors. Flora drew some big cutbacks and with her backhand attack she was spraying all over the show, showing the judges that she deserved scores. Waves closed up on her after strong snaps so she didn’t have the opportunity to combine manoeuvres and earn the score she needed to progress. Flora was great to watch and will bring this into her repercharge.
