Meet the Hotswell team

The Hotswell Media team is growing. Meet the team that provides the sharpest Surfotainment on the web.

I’m Ned. I was born in 1988 in Shropshire, a land so devoid of surfing (and so full of sheep) that it’s hard to imagine how I even ended up here.  As a kid, backcountry and freestyle skiing was the only sport that really got me going and after a few seasons working as an instructor in my late teens, I was pretty certain it would stay that way. Then, about 2 years ago, reality struck and it was time to get a job in the UK. With mates still doing seasons, it wasn’t easy to don the suit and type...

Er, hello! I'm Alfie and I write stuff for a living. Anyone can do it! Obviously. I grew up in Cornwall. Mostly either by the sea, in it or under it. I've been surfing since I was about 14; back in the days when all I had was a thirty year-old shortboard, a wetsuit two sizes too small and acne. But I've come a long way since then. My face cleared up, my wetsuit fits and I've gone through a fair few boards. They were necessary casualties in my ongoing battle against nature (Nature 302 : Me 0. But I've got...

Well where to start, I’m not too good at writing about myself, but here goes…. For the first years of my life I lived in London, and then (thank God) , when I was 6, Me and my family moved down to Cornwall. Now 17, I can’t stay away from the sea! I started surfing when I was about 13 with local grom club "Wave Slaves" in Newquay and from then have been hooked. My local break is South Fistral and it’s my favorite place to surf. The People , The Atmosphere, The Waves, Fistral’s definitely where I call home.  ...

Hello there dear reader, I believe an introduction is in order - it’s only polite after all. My name is Pete Hill, I’m 23 years old, I like long walks on the beach, getting caught out in the rain, sunsets….wait wrong website profile…hang on let’s try that again! OK, Pete Hill, 23, from North Devon, keen surfer and film-maker. I’m stoked to be having a go at writing on this blog, and have been asked to write a little about myself, my involvement in surfing, that sort of thing. So here goes!   I’ve lived in North Devon almost...

I'm a bodyboarder, living happily in west Cornwall. I try to take photos to showcase my love of the sponge in all its' glory - at heaving shore breaks or sketchy slabs... Well travelled, I've been to many of the usual haunts of a 30 year old male booger, and plenty of obscure places too. Having studied in Yorkshire and spent a lot of time in Scotland, I know the UK does have some special waves away from the hordes of the south west.   Made a DVD a few years back, check the intro here     http://vimeo.com/8648969 Again, trying to showcase...

Me, myself and me again Where to start….. My name is Tad Drogomirecki (seems like a probable place); I was born 28th july 1989 and have lived in Westward Ho since then. I joined W.S.C (Westward Surf Club) when I was 13 years old and have never looked at any other sport the same. Surfing has taken over my life to the extent that I have even skipped great opportunities of work because my favourite spot was firing at 6ft with light off shores (well worth it). I’ve lost a lot of friends due to my passion for surfing as it...

Do you love surfing? Ever wanted to be part of the surf industry? We’re looking for passionate writers and other media contributors to join our media team!  This includes writing, photography, videography, blogging and more. Check our current blog out here.   It’s not all about who’s busting the biggest airs in the world, or who just got a ten point ride. We’re bringing back the surf community spirit of it all. It’s all about the local shaper doing something different, and that time you got absolutely pitted at your local break. We’re looking for bloggers to write about...

So I've been asked to write a little about myself (Myself being Maddie Meddings), and I'm sure, inquisitive readers as you are, you want to know a little about the person whose opinions and thoughts are being spread all over this blog. So for the next however many words I'm gunna be doing something I do really well, talking about myself. I'm not particularly narcissistic and I don't 'love myself' in any sense at all, in actual fact sometimes I really dislike myself, e.g. when I mess up a perfect wave, or get drunk and talk like a prat or forget...
